Creative graphic design agency, Oxygen Graphics, set up Support Rugby during the first lockdown to provide a central point for local businesses. As we enter the festive season, the business community initiative has created an advent calendar full of discounts and offers with independent retailers and business support services. Here’s what you need to know and how you can get involved…
What is Support Rugby?
Malcolm Freeman, creative director at Oxygen Graphics, has been working in the heart of Rugby’s town centre for 11 years and when the pandemic closed many businesses surrounding his office he wanted to do something to bring everyone together.
Malcolm said: “Many of the business owners are my friends and business contacts and I feel like a part of the community. Support Rugby came from a necessity to communicate how businesses were operating in lockdown. We needed a central point where people could access the information about who was open, closed or open by appointment or click and collect only.”
Over 150 businesses have registered their details on the Support Rugby website to date and the initiative has received recognition inside Fresh Home & Living Magazine and on the air with Rugby radio station.
Malcolm said: “It’s a free community to join and I welcome other businesses to register their details. Their profiles can be edited at any time so if their opening or availability changes then this information can always be updated.”
Malcolm’s own business, Oxygen Graphics, has felt the impact of the pandemic and as we enter the festive period he wanted to do something to help other business owners who might be struggling too.

The advent calendar is a way to encourage everyone to shop local and a chance to promote independent retailers and business support services.
Between 1st and 24th December, Oxygen Graphics will reveal a different offer from behind their advent calendar door on their social media profiles.
